We’re looking for a Production Chemist to bring technical expertise, curiosity, and a safety‑first mindset to our dynamic Technical Team.

 

What You’ll Do

As our Production Chemist, you'll be the go‑to specialist for all things chemistry within our paper and packaging division, driving safe, efficient, and innovative chemical operations. Your work will influence everything—from new product development to operational improvements that keep us ahead in the industry.

You will:

  • Oversee and optimise chemical usage across the Paper & Packaging processes.
  • Supervise chemical plant operations and ensure procedures are robust, safe, and efficient.
  • Act as the COSHH Site Chemical Controller—owning all chemical compliance on site.
  • Serve as the Responsible Person for legionella control, safeguarding our people and operations.
  • Provide hands‑on support, advising and troubleshooting chemical‑related issues within the mill.
  • Contribute technical expertise to NPD, EPD, and Technical Work Requests.
  • Train colleagues in safe chemical handling, helping foster our strong safety culture.
  • Lead continuous improvements focused on cost, sustainability, and performance.

 

What You’ll Bring

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of chemical processes, safety regulations, COSHH and legionella control.
  • Experience supervising chemical plant operations or managing chemical inventories.
  • A problem‑solving mindset and ability to support operational challenges with calm expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills—especially when coaching others on safety and chemical handling.
  • A forward‑thinking approach and eagerness to innovate.
