At James Cropper, we're looking for a Slitter Operator to join our Production team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in transforming premium paper and packaging materials into products that meet the exacting standards of some of the world's leading brands.

What you'll be doing

As a Slitter Operator, you'll be responsible for operating and monitoring specialist converting equipment, ensuring products are processed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. You'll work closely with colleagues across production, helping to deliver performance targets while maintaining our strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating slitting machinery safely and efficiently to maximise throughput.
  • Monitoring product quality to ensure customer specifications are consistently met.
  • Identifying and resolving operational, process and product issues.
  • Carrying out routine machine checks and supporting maintenance activities.
  • Accurately recording production and quality data using company systems.
  • Supporting and guiding Slitter Assistants and new team members.
  • Maintaining excellent workplace organisation and housekeeping standards.
  • Contributing ideas that improve safety, quality, efficiency and sustainability.

  • Good mechanical aptitude and confidence working with machinery.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • The ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
  • A safety-first mindset and commitment to safe working practices.

A Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck licence would be advantageous, although training may be available for the right candidate.
