We're looking for a skilled Garage Mechanic to join our Engineering team in Burneside. If you enjoy diagnosing faults, solving technical challenges, and taking ownership of maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles and mobile equipment, we'd love to hear from you.

 

What you'll be doing

As our Garage Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of mobile equipment, road vehicles, trailers and forklift trucks, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and operational.

You will be responsible for;

  • Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across our fleet and mobile plant.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Record maintenance activities and asset history through our maintenance management systems.
  • Support continuous improvement activities focused on safety, efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Work closely with operators, suppliers and contractors to keep our operations running smoothly.
  • Provide cover for the Garage Chargehand Mechanic when required.

 

What we're looking for

We're seeking a practical problem-solver with a passion for engineering and vehicle maintenance.

You'll ideally have:

  • HNC/HND qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Apprentice-trained background in motor vehicle technology.
  • Experience maintaining HGVs, trailers, forklifts or mobile plant equipment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Welding experience using gas or electric welding methods.
  • Good understanding of vehicle legislation, environmental requirements and health & safety standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.

Additional licences such as Forklift Truck and HGV Class 1 are advantageous.
